ANDREW STROM

I added this picture of Guru Nanak
to show where I place this new cult in my thinking.
Nanak was a wandering mystic who halted between
Islam and Hinduism as Strom halts between the Word and the mystics.

It is the hallmark of ancient and modern mystics that they are seekers of new revelations. Guru Nanak was seeking for One God, and he ended up with a Muslim-Hindu hybrid. Modern mystics seek a new revelation in visions which they are given by devils, or which they simply make up and copyright as their moment with God. David Wilkerson did this long ago.

All mystics, if they are the sincere sort and not money grubbers, will then bring their new visions and revelations into fellowship with known truth in order to gather a following from the faithful of other orthodox movements.

In Andrew Strom's case, he has cleverly given the call to those who have left organized churches. These people are not part of anything anymore, so Strom has no enemies in the main line churches due to sheep rustling. This is an innovation I anticipated, for the House Church Movement could not be immune from Satanic attack for long.

From New Zealand

Andrew Strom is gleaning a following from sheep who have left churches that are dead or vicious.

In the following report by him, notice that he claims that they are right to leave the churches, and that they will soon come into a new gathering or restoration group. This is a nice trick to aid in rustling sheep into his program. His program is very subtle and appears to have no organization. This is done cleverly so that people who are gun shy about organized churches will feel at ease with him.

After the report I dropped in here, I have given you HIS links at his web site. They will show you that he is, in fact, just another variety of the "I JUST GOT A VISION" Word of Faith mob. Nothing has changed except to make the thing seem like it is a spontaneous product of YOUR zeal for Christ and the Word of God. If you believe that, you are in for some sorrow.

Andrew Strom's hybrid Revival Warfare inventions are simply a kinder and gentler version of the Kansas City Seven, the Manifest Sons of God terrorist program of Bill Britton, and the Vineyard Movement. The jackboot hate and manipulation is subdued, and the tough guy mystique and other world visions are more dominant.

Strom seems to me to have dropped away the tongues frenzy of more tawdry Charismatic leaders, and divine healing and Word of Faith fantasies seem to have been morphed into newer versions of zeal. But, Strom is making more and more solid associations with the Rhema and MSOG mob be giving credibility to their insane visions.

THE REPORT

EMAIL - RE: "OUT OF CHURCH" CHRISTIANS

Andrew Strom. [4 April 2003]
I am writing on a rather unusual topic today. On Monday night (31 March) I was invited onto a Christian Radio show in New Zealand to discuss the growing numbers of "Out-of-church" Christians in the West - people who have left the churches for various reasons but still claim a strong Christian faith. It was a very interesting night, and the phones ran hot.

This "Out-of-church" phenomenon has now grown so large that books are being written about it. In fact, several years ago I heard an estimate that there are TENS OF THOUSANDS of such Christians just in our largest city (-Auckland) alone. And I believe it is the same right across the Western nations. I have personally come into contact with literally hundreds of such people. The surprising thing is that they are often the most committed kind of Christians - praying, insightful, deep-thinking. Yet they have grown tired of "playing the game" inside our church system and have opted out. Often their involvement goes back many years. In fact, they had commonly been leaders of various kinds.

But now they have left. Why? The church obviously finds this a very difficult thing to explain or deal with. The usual accusations are often trotted out: "So-and-so has been hurt and has a root of bitterness". Or they are in "rebellion". Or they are "not a team player". Or they are "backsliding".

But if you talk to these people you will often find that they have been sitting in church for years and years, and they simply cannot stand to sit and watch the same old game being played any more. The LACK OF GOD is what gets to them - even in our most "Spirit-filled" churches. WHERE IS GOD IN ALL OF OUR ACTIVITY? Surely this is not the way it is supposed to be?

New fads and programs come and go, but the mediocrity and LACK OF GOD just seem to go on forever. And so quietly, sometimes without anyone even noticing, they slowly slip out the doors - never to return. Some have even told me that they felt God "calling them out". Others simply felt they couldn't stay there anymore. The state of the church weighed upon them more than words could say.

Very often they did the rounds of other churches, hoping against hope that they would find a place that felt "right" in any way. (-Though most of them are not "church-hoppers" by nature). But the places they visited never seemed any more "right" than the place they had left. And after a while it just seemed easier to stay at home with God.

As I said earlier, most of these people have not given up on Christianity at all. It is today's church system that they have given up on. And we are talking about large numbers here. Thousands are already opting out. And many feel like they are "waiting" for something.

Some of these people have started up home-fellowships. Or they meet with other couples on a casual basis. But many meet with nobody at all, and they consider themselves in a 'Wilderness' place - alone with God. (-Very common).

I was asked several weeks ago by a pastor whether I agreed that what is happening could be a 'move of God'. That is a pretty radical thought. Many leaders would think the opposite. Because anything that leads people out of "their church" can't be of God, can it?

Hmmmm. All I know is this: The concept of going through a 'Wilderness' just before entering the 'Promised Land' is totally Scriptural. In fact, it is right through the Bible. Even Jesus went through such a wilderness time.

But it is not possible to stay "alone" forever. Some day, if these people are going to be part of a new move of God's Spirit, they are going to have to come out of their wilderness and become part of the "BODY" that Jesus brings together - the 'new wineskin' that will come with this new move of God. Otherwise they could miss out. That is the great danger.

I'm sure there are many on this List with comments or testimonies relating to this topic. I would love to hear from you. It really is becoming a significant issue in the church.

God bless you, my friends.

For weeks after I published the above article, I was inundated with emails. It seemed to be going round and round on the Internet because many responses were from people that were not even part of our own List. Such a huge number of heart-felt stories from people who still loved Jesus but had left the churches (-forever, in many cases). What an eye-opener! It confirmed to me that this issue is so much larger than many of us have realized. I don't think a lot of Christian leaders have any clue how many believers are simply opting out of "organized religion" today.

Steve Van Nattan Comment:

The above item sounds innocent enough, but I want you to see that Andrew Strom is taking Charismania home to the house church in order to gather in the souls of these silly doves that are caught in the snare of the Charismatic fowler. These people escape from the Rhema mob, and then they are suckered back in via the House Church trick. The same is being done the Rick Warren, Purpose Driven Cheese, and the Emerging Church.

These men shuck off the most disgusting manifestations or Charismania, along with some of the flaming heretics like Copeland and Hinn. They then gather in a mob of Charismatic groupies who are also a bit embarrassed with the extremes of Charismania, and, wallah, they have another following and a great cash flow. World tours, books, and CD on "how to" are forthcoming, and another guru, albeit a sincere and more believable guru, is sucking up the adulation of his own patented following.

In the case of Strom, those who watch him closely claim he actually wanders back an forth, in and out of the Charismatic extreme loonie bin, and back to the new orthodoxy. This looks very much like a strategy to keep harvesting new recruits from the Circus of Chrismania. Thus, I have likened Strom to Guru Nanak. Nanak was a master of pandering to Islamic leaders while keeping the mystical aspects of Hinduism. His monotheism seemed commendable to Muslim leaders. Eventually, once he had his followers fully committed, he set up shop in Amritsar, India, and the Sikh religion was a permanent fixture on the world scene. He publishes his Japji, just as Rick Warren and Andrew Strom publish various media canons, and the thing is there to stay.

Check out the links at the bottom of the page.

What follows is a classic example of halting between two-- 1 Kings 18:21 (KJV) And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.

Andrew Strom seems to be ver righteous in his zeal for order and holiness, but please notice how he exempts the dancers and claims there is no need for an open break with the wicked. What a wimp!

"WHY I LEFT THE PROPHETIC MOVEMENT"
by Andrew Strom
PART ONE - Nov 3, 2004.

A report on the Kansas City 'Whitedove' Conference, Oct 28-30, 2004. (-Main speakers: Bob Jones, Paul Keith Davis, Bobby Conner, John Paul Jackson - plus Jim Goll and others).

It is with great sadness that I make the following report. I said last week that the 'Whitedove' conference in Kansas City this past weekend would be a pivotal one. It certainly was pivotal for me personally. I wish I could say that there was deep repentance - that the preaching was incredibly anointed and the crowd were on their faces crying before God. I wish I could say that, but I can't. In fact, it seemed to me that the opposite was true. The saddest thing of all is that many people probably came away from this conference saying how "wonderful" and "uplifting" it was (-just as they always do). But I have to tell you, I was grieved to the core by it. Many parts of it I would even describe as spiritually "sick".

Some people believe that the fall of Paul Cain into serious sin is some kind of aberration - just one individual's problem. But I am convinced that the fall of Paul Cain (-who was recognised worldwide as the 'father' of this movement) is a symptom of a much wider disease. The whole movement is sick. As I have stated in previous articles, the 'Prophetic' as we know it is really a "fallen" movement - since the early 1990's. But I always held out hope that it would somehow turn around and get back on track again. In fact, I believed that this conference was a heaven-sent opportunity for that to happen.

However, after what I saw this weekend, I no longer believe this is possible The deception is now too deep. This movement is being "given over to believe a lie" and I want no part of it. I am cutting myself off, because I cannot afford the disease to spread into what we ourselves are doing. Things have now gotten so bad that we have to separate ourselves - and to do so publicly.

As you know, I requested special prayer from you all last week that a true spirit of Repentance might prevail in this conference. The reason I made this request was because God had woken me up at 6 am the previous Friday and given me a strong word about the conference. (God only wakes me up like this quite rarely - perhaps five times a year).

The word He gave me was that this must be a 'repentance' conference - that this was in essence the "last chance" for the Prophetic movement because it had become more and more corrupt - centered around money and 'ear-tickling' words, false prophecy and so-on. This was a gathering of KEY prophets at a moment in time when the 'father' of the movement had just fallen. It was God s ideal moment for a truly "solemn assembly". (And yes - I did write and pass this word on - in person - to the three main leaders of the conference)

However, what actually eventuated at this event seemed to me to be more akin to a circus than a solemn assembly. The music, the concert-style lighting, the stage dancers, the groaning tables stacked high with books and CD's for sale, the 'ear-tickling', the hype, the $40.00 door fee (plus extra offerings taken each session) - and that's just for starters.

What really bothered me about the weekend was the total lack of any truly prophetic' preaching. There was some good stuff on Self-pity and Bitterness right near the start, but after that it was mostly downhill. As always, there were plenty of anecdotes and tales of angelic visitations, etc. There were Scriptures quoted and a few helpful insights. But as far as a message that truly pierces and challenges and convicts - well, don't go looking for that in THIS prophetic movement! In fact, there were warnings AGAINST any message that might come across as even slightly "condemning", and there was even one of those cute talks on the need for "loving oneself", etc.

Today's prophets seem to talk a lot ABOUT the 'sword of the Lord' but never actually bring it to bear. They bring no piercing word. And thus the entire movement is open to great deception. And instead of REPENTANCE, people are getting all kinds of counterfeit spiritual experiences. There seems to be almost no discernment at all.

The ON-STAGE DANCING throughout this conference was a good example. Now, I myself am a rock musician, but from the beginning these dance items had a rather 'wild' aspect to them that truly made me uncomfortable in my spirit. There was even one that came across like a sensual 'Harem' dance. Much of it really felt "off" - and almost anyone who sees the videos will tell you so. Even the worship had a very "tribal" feel to it at times. And by Day Three they were doing dance items with just loud voodoo-style drums only - and leaping around in a frenzied circle making weird cries to the super-amplified beat. The feeling in the room was so oppressive and "pagan" during this, that I could hardly even bear to stay in there. Then came one of the most shocking statements of the whole conference - from one of the main prophets. He got up and said that people may feel uncomfortable with such obviously "pagan" type dancing, but that it was originally God's type of dancing and we were just now 'stealing back' what the pagans had stolen from God!

I have to admit, this was the last straw for me. What could be more blatant? What kind of 'spirits' do they think are being transmitted to people who open themselves up to that music? There is no discernment in this movement at all.

Now, I do not primarily blame the dancers. They were young and possibly immature. (-They weren't actually from 'Whitedove' itself). Clearly, most of the blame lies with the main prophets who invited them in and openly endorsed and promoted what was happening the whole time. They would get up and publicly acclaim these dance items, thus ensuring that the spirit of it would pervade the entire event. And indeed it did - more and more. Remember, most of the major "movers and shakers" of the Prophetic movement were at this conference, going along with this stuff. I repeat what I said earlier: This movement demonstrates absolutely NO DISCERNMENT. I urge everyone to GET OUT NOW, before even worse is brought in. I believe this movement is RIGHT NOW being given over to deception by God - and it is going to get much worse.

Even the 'spiritual' moments in this conference often had strong touches of Charis-mania" excess about them. And this was not the 'harmless, silly' kind of excess, either. It was at a level where I believe demonic spirits of deception were clearly at work. By the last session the audience was so hyped that they threw away all inhibition and leapt into the 'pagan' dancing themselves with wild abandon. And one of the main prophets even got up and announced that there were angels in the room going around "blowing on peoples' fingers" if only they would lift them up in the air. That particular part sounds silly, but actually the whole thing by this stage had become awful beyond words. Virtually every day I came home utterly grieved and depressed. I had come to this conference with great expectancy and hope, thinking that the return of Bob Jones may bring a renewal of all that was originally good about this movement. I literally came as a 'friend' and they turned me into an enemy in the space of three days.

Below are the SPECIFIC THINGS that God told me He has against this movement as a whole:

-The giving and receiving of "ear-tickling" words.
-The giving and receiving of money in expectation of prophecy.
-False words and false teaching.
-The lack of a true Repentance message.
-The spiritual 'blindness' that allows familiar spirits and spirits of divination to flourish.
-The failure of this movement to judge itself, meaning that God must judge it.
-The idolising of well-known prophets - placing them on a pedestal.
-And so on....

WHAT NOW FOR US?

Well, obviously, with great sadness we must now totally cut ourselves off from today's Prophetic Movement. Any related links and articles will be removed from our web-site immediately.

As you know, for some time now I have spoken of the 'John-the- Baptist' type ministries that must arise to preach REPENTANCE in the Western nations. -Preachers of righteousness with a piercing word, like the Finneys, the Wesleys and the Whitefields of old. Such ministries are essential for true Revival to come. I now see that this new move must completely "separate itself" from the influence of the existing Prophetic movement. We need a completely 'NEW' Prophetic, and to keep it from being tainted by the sickness that has infected the old, there must be a complete cutting-off and a "leaving behind".

I urge all of you to take this before the Lord for yourself. We live in very dangerous times, and I believe the old Prophetic literally stands under the judgement of God.

For our ministry in Kansas City, what this means is that we have to go right back to the original calling and mandate over this city, and build on that. We cannot build on the movement that came after. The 21 days of prayer and fasting, the comet that came, and the comission to preach Repentance to the Lukewarm church - these were all foundational elements. So too were the four standards of "Holiness of heart, Unwavering faith, Day and Night prayer, and Extravagant Giving to the Poor". The original Prophetic move here seemed to be relatively pure for only a few years - and then quickly became a quagmire So we have to stick to only the original foundations - and build on that. Our Sunday night meetings in Kansas City will certainly continue.

There were prophecies last year that a 'new' prophetic - a "second phase" was about to begin. I do believe this. But what we need to make sure of is that it does not become ensnared in the garbage of this previous movement. It must be totally NEW.

I would ask that you forward this announcement to as many Lists as you can, and to your Christian friends. We want it as widely known as possible that we have cut off all relations with the current Prophetic movement - and why we did it.

To email me with any feedback, please write to: prophetic@revivalschool.com As you can tell, it has been a terribly sad and devastating weekend for myself and my family. We would truly appreciate your prayers at this time, my friends.

God bless you all.
Kindest regards in Christ,
Andrew Strom.

CROSS+WORD on Andrew Strom

Some people are pushing for a purification of the saints and a renewal of the Church that sounds very attractive, but in fact they are drawing on the old-time sonship fallacies of the Holiness groups and Deeper Life groups of the 19th century. They may not even know the source of their inspiration, and may be sincere and godly, but they are missing the mark none the less.

Some men, such as Andrew Strom or David Wilkerson for example, (in their different ways) sometimes have useful things to say. There are a few gleanings of thought-provoking and even inspired messages, but in the end it's still unbiblical - because they have a grand vision for a New Church, reorganised and restored, that is not according to scripture. Often this also means following the New Apostles and Prophets of the day - Andrew Strom cheerfully hosts the material of Rick Joyner, Paul Cain and other "prophets" and in a recent message to his mailing list commended the notorious Kansas City Prophets as being the launch-pad for "God's restoration of the prophetic into today's church"

"God was restoring the 'Prophetic' ministry to the church. In fact, I regard this as the founding of the modern Prophetic movement as we know it today. ... it is very clear to me that the "foundations" of today's Prophetic movement, and the great explosion that we have seen in the Prophetic ministry over the last 20 years, stem directly back to Kansas City. This was the founding movement, the watershed-event that God used to kick-start the whole thing in modern times."

So it is worthy of note that the path Strom took to his present position entailed abandoning the "wilderness experience" outside the church system, and turning back to organised religion. Strom underwent a change of heart in 1993 (when the so-called revival began at Toronto Airport) that changed his attitude to "out-of-church" wilderness Christians. He now calls for Christians to get back under authority, and into organised church bodies.

This distrust of isolation and command to come under leadership is also evidenced in David Wilkerson's material albeit in a more subtle fashion. Because he has denounced the Brownsville and Toronto Blessing deceptions, he has made many friends amongst the "Remnant". He often writes in a supportive and encouraging way for them, recognising the pains and sufferings of today's isolated believers. At the same time he proposes a restoration of the Church that could be taken from a Latter Rain text book.

GOD'S WORD SPEAKS TO ANDREW STROM

Matthew 15:14 (KJV) Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

2 Corinthians 6:14 (KJV) Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

Those who refuse to COME OUT 100% are not his sons and daughters.

Hebrews 12:8 (KJV) But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.

Please note Strom's clever way of gathering unrelated things to make alleged prophetic moments.

THESE "FILTHY DREAMERS" MUST BE ROOTED UP
IN ANY WAY THE LORD LEADS YOU

Matthew 15:13 But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.

Matthew 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

Jude 1:8 Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities.
9 Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.
10 But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves.
11 Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core.
12 These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;
13 Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.
14 And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,
15 To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.
16 These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men's persons in admiration because of advantage.
17 But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ;
18 How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.
19 These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.
20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
22 And of some have compassion, making a difference:
23 And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.
24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
25 To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.
