The article you link to by Billy E. Blankenship brought to memory (I am sorry to say) THE HAPPY HUNTERS.

The name of the medication escapes me (digitalis), but whence it is derived does not: it is made from the foxglove plant, a powerful hypnotic. Anyway, the HUNTERS, who had to have known it was baloney going in, were now apprised by the leading authority on cults that their book was a fake and they should pull it. They kept right on publishing the thing anyway.
