She just did a series of articles on illegals and immigration, and I have had my nose full of this rubbish. So, I am using her mindless tirade to help us all get some perspective. I have spent seven years living on the US border with Mexico, and I was born in Los Angeles and lived there on and off for about fifteen years of my life until 1983. I have knowledge of the real world, and I am sick of the right wing propaganda and lies about "the immigration problem."

They all came to this country from the various parts of Italy with sponsorship, jobs awaiting them, a place to live, schools to attend, and willingness to learn English and become Americans. Each of them, within short order, had become citizens, and all my uncles and father fought for this country in WWII, with my father even entering the depths of hell in Borneo alongside the Merrill’s Marauders. Each of my foreign-born-turned American citizen-relatives paid their taxes and their bills, partook in community events, and assumed responsibility for their presence in this country. They wanted to be Americans! Our parents and relatives did not teach my brother and cousins and me Italian, though it was spoken fluently among our parents. However, each one of our adult relatives learned English quickly and smoothly out of the strong and urgent desire to be like every other American in this country. This was their dream.
Answer: It now takes a large deposit in a US bank to immigrate legally. Simple answer to a stupid question.
It is not like today where illegal immigrants make their way into the United States by hiding in the back of trucks, jumping trains, flying-in unnoticed, floating on rafts, tunneling underground or—worst of all—walking right across our southern borders, leaving litter, slaughtering animals, bringing third-world illnesses, only to overcrowd our educational institutions, demand and receive free medical care, and consume our assistance (welfare, disability) systems. It’s notable that Social Security and Medicare—earned by Americans--will soon run out, and yet the illegals put nothing into it, and most Americans will never benefit from it. Social Security will be depleted entirely by 2040, if not sooner, and Medicare will be gone by between 2012 and 2015.[4] Guess who’s getting funds we labored for?
Answer: They cannot make the bank deposit, and the job is waiting for them in the lettuce field in Yuma, or running cattle on a ranch in Texas, WHERE THEY ARE NEEDED, so they cross the line and go to work. Simple answer to a stupid question.
They do not come here to become Americans; rather, they come to work…with many not reporting income taxes so that they can send more money back to their country and enrich their economy. They come to use our sophisticated medical care…free of cost to them, while honest and legal immigrants and Americans can’t get any medical care without paying high insurance rates. They come to wring the guts out of our schools; they come to bear their children so they instantly and automatically and magically turn into citizens, receiving all the benefits Americans pay for; and they come with their criminals and felons, dumping them in our motherland.
Answer: A few do these things because they are poor and need help. This idiot PhD makes it sound like a plot. Bah! Furthermore; as high as 80% or them do NOT intend to stay in the USA. Believe it or not, they love Mexico, and after four years of work, they go home to Chihuahua and buy a small home in the hills. Damn you if you don't believe me, I have TALKED to them and heard from dozens of Anglos who have helped them go home when they have the cash to do so.
These are not illegal aliens who want to be Americans; if anything, they despise us, so how can we even consider welcoming them into our country?
Answer: Lie. I never felt despised by an illegal, and seldom by a Hispanic, and I worked in homes where illegals were domestics over and over. They are kind and helpful and self-controlled. A few jerks in the bunch are NOT a trend.
This eroding of our country is not providential or accidental…it is deliberate, well-planned, and unrelentless.
Answer: It is God sending us people who love their babies and do not kill them in the womb. So, the Anglo Saxon baby murderers must hire these illegals and Hispanics or our food economy would bust.
We should be concerned, too—seriously concerned—when we read rhetoric such as: “’You (gringos) have spilled enough of our blood, now it’s your turn to bleed, you [expletive] sub-human beasts,’ so said an editorial in the University of California Irvine’s Hispanic LaVoz Mestiza. Professor Gutierrez, employed by the University of Texas, founder of La Raza said, ‘We have got to eliminate the gringo, and what I mean by that is if the worst comes to the worst, we have got to kill him.’…’For the race everything.
Answer: Did the killer rhetoric of Farakhan turn Black America into a lot of killers? No, and even he settled down and decided to become civilized. A handful of loco Hispanics are not going to make animals of the whole Hispanic community in America. In fact, Hispanics in the middle class of the USA will prevail. The Pachucos and the Chicanos of the past have come and gone. In their wake are the restrained and polite Hispanic and illegal youth I like to meet in US border town High Schools. I felt a lot safer in the schools of the Arizona border than when I tuned pianos in Michigan schools. This lady is a panic monger.
Many organizations and foundations in our country—such as the Ford Foundation[9]—were founded with the deliberate attempt to undermine our republic and replace our democracy with socialism.
Answer: Anyone who equates life in the Hispanic community, and with the illegal immigrants entering the USA, with the Ford Foundation is mad. There is not connection. The comings and goings along our border were routine and part of the Southwest's economy and life when Ford was only wetting his diaper. The peso and the dollar used to be one to one about one hundred years ago. Why did the peso devalue so badly? The truth is that Ford et al got the best of Mexico, not the other way around.
Don’t forget GATT, NAFTA, CAFTA, WTO and FTAA—so-called free trade agreements that in actuality strangle-held us and ruined and will continue to ruin the labor force in our country.
Answer: NAFTA works. It gives Mexicans, maquiladores, jobs IN Mexico, working for American companies, and they stay in Mexico and do not come to the USA and become a problem. Furthermore; the products are then imported from Mexico instead of from China or India. I guess these bigot experts need to decide who they want to economically support, their neighbors or the Red Chinese.
Remember what Theodore Roosevelt said in 1907 on immigration: "In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but is something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people"
Answer: So, who notices all the Hispanics, and even the illegals, who go about their life and live at peace in America? All these foghorn academics notice is the minority of jerk Hispanics who are yelling into the camera. It has always been so. NBC and CBS know that if they showed you all the little Hispanic Nanas who get up at 5AM every morning and make tortillas for the family, you would switch channels and not see the million dollar Dodge Ram commercial. The Italians, Polish, and Blacks who live at peace with other Americans are not exalted either. Thus, the rabble of other cultures are high lighted in order for the right wing to demonize the masses. Teddy Roosevelt was 100% right, but to imply that Hispanic Americans fail to meet his high standards is blasphemy.
By the way, all this bile about Hispanics not learning English is bogus rhetoric. It is the Liberal Anglo Saxons in Santa Fe, Phoenix, Austin, and Sacramento who call for Hispanic kids to be taught in Spanish. The Hispanic parents are just as eager for their kids to learn English as this author's Italian parents were for her to learn English.
This lady's problem is that she has not lived where her subject lives. She is just as competent to write about Hispanics and illegal Mexicans as I am to write about the terrible conditions of life in Alice Springs, Australia. Never been closer than 8000 miles to Australia.
Now, here is my letter to the alleged PhD in which I attempt to lead her across the border from insanity into fields of reality:
A. Illegals, 90% of them, come to the USA to find jobs in low paying labor, especially ranch and farm work, and their objective is NOT to stay and become Americans. They send their money home, after the Anglos at Western Union rip off a big chunk, and in four years their wife in Mexico has stashed away enough for Lalo to go home and buy a little home in the hills of Chihuahua or Sonora. He left Mexico being the town beggar, and he goes home four years later into the lower middle class of Mexico. This, at the cost to the rancher or farmer in the southwest, and elsewhere, of about $ 3.00 an hour and a lousy shack on the back of the ranch.
B. If Lalo did not come illegally and do this work, your carrots would double or triple in price.
C. Some of our farms and ranches would cease to exist because you don't know one Anglo who would work in that heat for that pay to pick those carrots for four times that pay. Go find out who drives the mowing tractors in the summer along our highways when it is 110 degrees. Go on, see if you find Anglos willing to do that. Who works highway labor, and spreads hot tar, from Oklahoma west? When my Dad worked on the WPA long ago in the 1930s, he was assigned to the Cajunga Dam project north of Los Angeles. Once the blasting of rock and carrying away of rock was complete, the face of the bed rock had to be dressed by hand with picks. The work was so treacherous that only Mexicans could handle it day after day. They put my Dad with these Mexicans who were called the "Mexican drag line." The first day my Dad went home with his fingers so swollen from slamming the pick down all day that he could not separate his fingers to see light between them. He went back the next day to work and stayed with the Mexicans. They got to love him and went out of their way to help him keep the job. Why? My Dad, at 18, was famous-- he was the first Anglo who had come back the second day when assigned to the "Mexican drag line." In the 1930s, as today, there are jobs only Mexicans seem to be able to tolerate. We NEED people like that, doctor.
D. America has killed off almost 80 million of our workers in the womb since 1960. Where are employers going to find common labor workers? Bush knows this, but no one dares talk about abortion bringing on this raging demand for illegal labor because it is politically incorrect. And, YOU will not deal with it because you would have to admit that God is rewarding the USA for abortion by sending us people who love to have babies and raise them responsibly. The love in a Hispanic home and extended family is much more sociologically healthy than the average upper middle class Anglo home. If you don't like that, too bad, it is God dealing with the Anglo killing machine. Baby killers do NOT deserve to keep their acre and wantonly keep killing babies.
E. If we threw all the illegals back across the border, the life of millions of Mexicans back in Mexico would become horrible. Lalo sends a lot of cash home to take care of Nana and the nephews. I don't suppose you believe that these evil raging beasts care about their own, but I lived on the Arizona border for 7 years, worked in three border towns, and I have seen the Mexican and Hispanic life in California where I was born. They are good people.
F. We send billions to the Mexican government in aid, and El Presidente puts it in the Swiss bank and buys utility companies for himself in Mexico. We groan over this and the ongoing poverty in Mexico. So, here come a million Lalos to pick lettuce, and go home later and move up into the middle class of Mexico, and they are the enemy? BAH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Look here, lady, WE ARE HELPING REAL PEOPLE, ONE BY ONE, TO HAVE THE GOOD LIFE WE IMAGINED WE WERE GIVING THEM BY SENDING FOREIGN AID. But, you hate that. Let the damned beggars starve, right?
G Also, pay attention, if you can get this into your head, you have it in a nut shell......... While Lalo is here, guess where he spends his pocket money left that he does not send home? You need to go to the Southwest and walk the aisles of any Wal-Mart once. They work here, and they spend their cash here. They do not import their tortillas and frejoles from Vera Cruz.
H. US Hispanics along the border do not want illegals running loose either, and they have far greater practical feelings about it than Gringos like you. They live just inside the US side of the border, and the illegals take their (American Hispanic) kids' jobs at McDonalds in Nogales and Tijuana. In spite of these rather strong feelings, American Hispanics, in mercy, feed the illegals as the pass their homes half starved, which mercy I see you do not have. And then they call the Border Patrol to come and pick them up. You write like the only people who understand are the pale faced migrants from Saxony and Italia who came through Ellis Island.
I. Once Mexicans become Americans they do NOT want to take over America. It just is not that way. They are loyal peace loving Americans, and you must have never seen the life in the market place in a border city where Anglos and Hispanics work together and live together. Many Hispanics are still 100% Spanish and have green eyes and brown hair, and some cannot be distinguished from White Americans until they start jabbering in Spanish. Also, you have never seen a Hispanic school superintendent take over a desert High School (Barstow, CA), that Anglos took down to the 13th percentile, and bring it up to the 70th percentile in five years. You never saw a Hispanic cop do his work. You never saw a Hispanic business man rescue an Anglo family by hiring their kids at the supermarket. I am a Hollander whose family came from the Netherlands in 1695 and settled in New York. I am also related to the Kaiser. My blue blood great grandmother was a Farley, get it?.... Post Master General Farley. And, I am a Gringo who was flat broke over and over as I went through college. And, who took me regularly to his home and to out eat, and who sneaked money into my coat pocket at church secretly over and over to help me survive? José Sanchez. Gaze off into the distance, dear scholarly bigot, and consider your asinine assumptions.
J. The Hispanic and Mexican teen agers in the High Schools along the border are infinitely more restrained and polite than the Anglo kids. The Mexican or Hispanic homes and extended family are tight yet outgoing, so that community events are well attended, and Anglos who adapt to this find an open and rewarding life in any border town. By the way, I NEVER saw kids in the Southwest, where Hispanics dominated, who dressed like the slob Anglos in Michigan or Boston. The young men were sharp in their trendy kakis and black felt fedora, and the young ladies, though lacking in square inches of yardage sometimes, had on very expensive clothes. Anglo kids dress in rags that look like Goodwill threw them out in the dumpster. Hispanic young men have well trimmed and styled hair, while Anglo young men look like they are going to a baboon convention.
Your editorial arrogance I find gross in the extreme. I think you are just an educated smart mouth. Your PhD is a joke, summa cum grosso. Go live on the border for a couple of years, and you will learn something about the real world. Furthermore; I don't think you give a damn for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It so happens, O wise one, that it is a great deal easier to give the Gospel to an illegal, or to a Mexican who just got his US citizenship, than to witness to Mexicans in Mexico City. Once in the USA, they have escaped from the long suffocating arm of the Whore of Rome, and they are quite willing to listen to the Gospel. I even found a Catholic priest, in Nogales, Arizona, who was Hispanic, and who was having a great time teaching Catholics the Bible in a way that would have gotten him excommunicated in Guadalajara.
I met an older Hispanic couple in the town in Michigan where I pastored, and we became friends. He told me that before he left Mexico and "swam the Rio Grande" long ago, he always dreamed of having a Bible, not a Protestant Bible, just any Bible. He was not allowed by the Catholic priests to see a Bible, and no store in his part of Mexico sold Bibles. The first thing he did when he entered Texas, and after he earned his first illegal pay bundle, was buy a Bible. After that, his friends helped him study his Bible, and in the process he found Jesus Christ as his Savior. He also went to work and worked his whole life, first as an illegal, and then as a citizen of the USA, and dear lady, I would prefer that old saint and his wife as neighbors any day to a flaming bombastic biddy like you. Furthermore; you would never bring around a dish of carne advado when my wife or I were sick like those folks did. Go figure.
After growing up and living in Africa for many years, when I see an oil painting of African animals, I can tell if the artist ever lived in Africa. After living in the Southwest on and off for years, I can tell if a painter ever lived in the Southwest. I can tell, from your bogus editorial, that you have not spent much time in a border town, on ranches and farms where Mexicans work, or in the homes of Hispanic people. You are clueless. You will fool a lot of predisposed idiots who are eager to hear some writer dish them up the rationale to hate anyone not made in their mold, but some of us out here have caught you.
So, your articles are a sick joke.

What is the solution? Simple answer again:
1. Build a wall from Tijuana to Brownsville, and put big doors all along the way for legal access to the USA.
2. Give Mexicans without a criminal record a green card good for four years to work in the USA, then make sure they return home.
3. What about the illegals who are here now? Hey stupid, you left the barn door open-- stop belly aching. Give them all the choice of a green card or naturalization. We need them in the lettuce fields anyway.
4. What if the green card people have babies while they are here? The kid is a Mexican.
5. If illegals come in secretly after that, what then? Catch them and make them work on a chain gang in Arizona fixing roads. If that is OK with them-- like maybe that is better than starving in Mexico-- then Arizona has better roads.
6. How many should we let in? 80 million is the number of babies we killed in the womb, so even half of that might not be enough to keep the produce flowing and cheap.
In fact, if abortion keeps on raging unchecked, I predict the day will come when US companies send recruiters to Mexico to hire a work force.

PS If any of my Hispanic friends in Nogales or Douglas read this, I assure you, while I have learned to enjoy Tennessee, I sure do miss Nana's tamales and tortillas. You folks used to make me the best lunches when I tuned your pianos. And, in Douglas, the Nanas there put olives in the tamales! I have good feelings for Naco too, and even some Hispanics avoid Naco :-) Someday I may be back.
