Adrian, our Hopi Indian student from Supai Canyon, was driving in his car from Supai to Flagstaff when he saw an Anglo (white American) hitchhiker on the highway near the turnoff to Peach Springs. At first he decided not to pick him up but changed his mind, turned around and began their drive to Peach Springs.  "Can you tell me how to find a medicine man?" he asked Adrian.  When he received a negative reply, he continued to ask  other questions such as, "Where can I find a sweat lodge?"-- I"d like to get some peyote."  (A hallucinating drug.)

Adrian thought, "This young man is searching for something and needs to know about the Lord Jesus Christ."  He began to tell him the story of how Christ died for our sins, was buried and rose again the third day according to the Bible.  As they neared Peach Springs, tears were coming from the hitchhiker's eyes and Adrian asked him if he wanted to accept Jesus as Savior.  He said, "Yes, I do."  Adrian was surprised and asked him, "Did you understand what I've told you?"  After assuring our Indian friend that he did understand, Adrian said, "Well, just to be sure, I'm going to tell you again."  The Gospel message was repeated and the Anglo hitchhiker from Louisiana bowed his head and received Christ Jesus as his Savior."
