This is the Gospel of John. It is one of four Gospel books that are given to us to show us the life of Jesus Christ and why he had to live on earth and die and raise from the dead for us.

This is my way of helping you be SURE you are born again and a child of God.

 

SOUL WINNING There are thousands of Christians and preachers in the world who are eager to "win souls." This is not bad, but many of them are so desperate to brag on the numbers of people they have convinced to be born again that they use a short cut to convince the hearer. They will usually take you to The Epistle to the Romans, and they will lead you through several verses there which they imagine give you enough understanding to be converted. The problem is, you do not come to really know Jesus Christ with this plan. The book of Romans was written for people who had already become Christians and needed to understand the issues of life better. So, you prayed a cute little prayer, and after possibly being baptized, and starting out on the way they told you would lead to heaven, you now have doubts. You may well come to wonder what is missing. I will tell you what is missing: You have not come to know Jesus Christ in a personal way. The book of the Gospel of John, along with the Gospels Matthew, Mark, and Luke, are books God put in the Bible for YOU. They show you the person, life, and destiny of Jesus Christ. The Gospel books of the Bible show you the love, the gentleness, and heart of Jesus. They also show you that he was and is God in human flesh. And, the Gospel books make it clear what you have to believe to be converted or born again. This study of John's Gospel may be the first time you have really seen Jesus Christ and his works in perspective. Please forget the talk and blather of those who gave you a sort of "trailer" version of Jesus, and forget the Hollywood Jesus of The Passion. Put another way, you cannot believe in someone whom you have never gotten to know personally. The Epistle of Romans, reading little picture tracts, and sitting through a fire breathing sermon are NOT enough to show you who Jesus is. God gave you four books of Gospel so that you would not miss the message. Will you make sure you DO know Jesus Christ? You could have responded to someone, or some message, long ago and yet never come to know Jesus Christ as your God and friend. I pray that you will really come to know Jesus Christ as your best friend and your Savior as you read John's Gospel. I pray that you will believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God.

Why have I done this? Answer: I have learned that many people live in doubt about where they stand with God. Many voices today invite you to question your eternal destiny and beliefs. Some people mean well, while others only cause you confusion. They say, do this or that work, do the stations of the cross, say Hail Marys, speak in jabbery tongues, or get goose bumps at some preacher's altar....

Who has the answer and promise of hope and eternal life?

ANSWER: YOU DO, right on this web page-- The Gospel of John contains all you need to know to be born again, or "saved".

How can you known that you have eternal life? What must you do to know that your life will end with the Lord Jesus Christ and in his heaven? The Gospel of John is the answer:

John 20:31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

If you believe everything in this Gospel of John, about Jesus Christ, then you have eternal life. Would you read all 21 chapters of the Gospel of John if you could then be 100% sure you were a child of God and going to heaven?

Read the whole Gospel please. If you don't understand something, just keep reading. Along the way, I have some questions for you. They will help you decide if you believe everything you read.

The Bible, that is, the Gospel of John, will be in black text. My questions and comments along the way will be in blue text so that you do not think what I write is the Gospel. My thoughts may or may not be true. I will prayerfully only add thoughts I believe will help you understand what you read.

As you read, answer the questions I have given you to help you be sure you believe the Gospel.

That's how I became a believer. Was sitting in the middle of my bed about 2 in the morning reading the Gospel of John. I knew in about three minutes or less. Was a little over 5 years ago. I wish now I would have written down the date but at the time I didn't think it mattered. Still doesn't really, just for my own purposes. I was amazed that Jesus could love and save a wretch like me, still am amazed. It teared me up and I don't commonly cry easily. My encounter with the God of the Bible. I tried to tell a young fundamental Baptist preacher how I got saved and he didn't like it that I didn't come to Jesus in a church. ( I'm in construction and earlier this year I worked on a new Baptist church he was youth pastor for). Said he'd heard people being saved like that but he didn't quite think it was the norm.
