THE BEST BIBLE CHOICE
FOR AFRICAN AMERICANS-
THE KING JAMES BIBLE

By Mike Ramey- African American journalist from Indianapolis

Comments from the Editor: Steve Van Nattan

Since the new modern translations have taken over the Laodicean Church Age, there is not one record of a real revival breaking out while the King James Bible was being preached. Oh, there are thrills and chills as some of the Mega Church gurus have their high powered chat sessions they call Bible teaching. But, the old fashioned revival where people spontaneously start repenting of sin?????

It is still the King James Bible that exposes sin the the human heart, and it is the KJV that the world's journalists quote. From revival to crass editorial, there is no escape from a real Bible that demands authority and gets it.

The following is not for African American alone-- it is for the people of the whole world. And, brother Ramey's first point of seven points is startling. I have never seen this in print before, AND it is 100% true. In fact, I contend that the reason these flake preachers flee the KJV for the NIV is because they do NOT want to really deal with sin. A revival might break out, and these Mega Church gurus need revival more than anyone else. They are dead beats.

WHICH BIBLE VERSION IS RIGHT FOR ME?

BY MIKE RAMEY

My personal preference is the KJV. I believe in and stand with its use. When one wants to BE the best, they should SELECT the best! One who is serious about having an effective ministry AND walk with Christ would be advised to get a KJV Bible, a dictionary, and dig through the Word themselves.

In my earlier Christian days I used weaker versions. The Living Bible, the Good News Bible, and the NIV. I have passed out tracts in the NASB and the NKJV, and reviewed Christian books that have used other bible versions as a base. However, when I got saved, the scales fell off my eyes to the KJV"and I"ve not looked back!

I have noticed a few other things about the KJV:

FIRST- Its Ability to Stop Satan:

Have you noticed that many weak and marginal Christians gravitate to the weaker translations? The KJV, when it is DAILY studied, DAILY searched and DAILY heeded WORKS like RAID: It Stops Satan COLD!

SECOND- Its Origin and History:

King James of England authorized the translation of the available scriptures of his day into a Bible that the common person could read. A host of scholars and experts took some four years to painstakingly go over the Greek and Hebrew texts. They avoided attempts by the Roman Catholic church to "water down" the gospel. ALL put their lives on the line to get the job done. In 1611, the world was introduced to the King James Version. It stood alone as THE biblical standard for more than 260 years" well before the first "popular translation" (RSV) arrived in 1881!

THIRD- Its Linguistic Authority and Purity:

Some might think that this is a small point, but whenever the Scripture states, "Thus Saith the Lord"" it does something to the spirit of the believer. It is written in the same King"s English language used by Shakespeare. One KNOWS what happens when you try to "modernize" the Bard. The same can be said for attempts to tamper with the KJV! Translations that have come since the KJV lose something when they use modern terminology.

FOURTH- For African Americans It Represents An Unbreakable Tie
To Our Ancestry And History In The USA:

Our fore parents had it right when they INSISTED to be taught how to read out of the bible, rather than out of "just another reading book". THIS is why our fore parents were wise beyond their years! The KJV helps one properly reverence God, and God blesses with wisdom and understanding BEYOND normal education standards.

FIFTH- Lastly, It Has Stood the Test of Time: Always remember this saying:

"It"s not the anvil that wears out; it"s the hammers that do!" Critics of the KJV are often-- over the course of time-- silenced by the Lord Himself! Tis the KJV that is the anvil!

The KJV is NOT a "white man"s bible". It is the Word of God, inspired and breathed on by His Holy Spirit and bought and paid for by the birth, death, burial, resurrection and ascension of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Accept NO substitutes!
