Searching for the Truth in the King James Bible;
Finding it, and passing it on to you.

Steve Van Nattan

In the article below I told you that Kent Hovind was headed for a show down with sin and righteousness and judgment. This man played money moving tricks which even the most sin-tolerant jack boot Fundamental Baptist will have to find frightening.

Moving money from the bank to yourself in $9500 increments is as red handed as being caught on the video camera shooting the teller.

So, Kent will soon be out of the blather and bluster and bull shooting business, and we are delighted, for this means the man might actually be born again:

Hebrews 12:8 (KJV) But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.

Kent Hovind may well be a son of God, but he will soon be a son of God on an extended vacation at the courtesy of the tax payers he ripped off by refusing to participate in America. Let us NOT hear any rubbish about Kent being a martyr, for he is worthy of the penalty. He has mocked at the law, and he has exalted tax rebellion in his videos an creation. He has given the enemy cause to blaspheme, and I am only too please to see him get his come uppance.

1 Peter 2:18 (KJV) Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward.
19 For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully.
20 For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.
21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:

Our Lord Jesus paid his taxes without complaint, and he also told us to render to Caesar what is Caesar's. The thing that is so gross about this is that Hovind thinks he has the right to hoard riches (his "for the ministry" lie is damned to hell bull), while the rest of us fund the Republic. I pray that the tax base will soon benefit from the auctioning off of all of Hovind's assets.

Any of you jerks out there who contribute to Hovind's defense and needs are devils.

UPDATE- 2016

Noah should sue. This creep will not go away.

Brother Kent Hovind, highly esteemed speaker on evolution, and a defender of the King James Bible and Creationism-- was raided by the IRS recently.

This was predictable, for brother Hovind has been exalting Tax Rebellion in his speaking engagements and videos. Many saints have seen the video of him extolling tax rebellion. Virtually every tax rebel I have known, and I have known some, justify their rebellion as if they are doing God a great service. They also like to make law abiding tax payers look like jerks. And then, they ask us to pray for them as they fight off the IRS, seeking out tax attorneys who specialize in defending tax rebels, and in the end, they define the deal they cut with the IRS as a great victory for the Lord Jesus Christ.

Proverbs 17:11 An evil man seeketh only rebellion: therefore a cruel messenger shall be sent against him.

This journal, must break fellowship with brother Hovind. Even if he "beats the rap" with the IRS, he is, nevertheless, teaching rebellion against the king. We have heard all the Libertarian, militia, and extra-biblical rationalism for this, and we reject it out of hand. Jesus paid his taxes, and every saint must follow his example.

Mark 12:13 And they send unto him certain of the Pharisees and of the Herodians, to catch him in his words.
14 And when they were come, they say unto him, Master, we know that thou art true, and carest for no man: for thou regardest not the person of men, but teachest the way of God in truth: Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not?
15 Shall we give, or shall we not give? But he, knowing their hypocrisy, said unto them, Why tempt ye me? bring me a penny, that I may see it.
16 And they brought it. And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? And they said unto him, Caesar's.
17 And Jesus answering said unto them, Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's. And they marvelled at him.

I dare say the vast majority of adversarial scholars, who are mocked by brother Hovind during his lectures, pay their taxes, including on "gifts" which total more than $10,000. These men will now, all of them, dismiss brother Hovind, for their obedience to the example of Jesus, though in unbelief, is greater than brother Hovind's.

Lastly, let me say this-- When you want to defend creation, or when you want to exalt the Creator, simply teach the Truth from the Word of God. I believe we are learning to guard our pulpits more jealously as this man flames out. We need fewer special conferences on prophecy, revival, and creationism. We need more old time Bible teaching by the pastors God gave us-- the common men who are called of God to feed sheep.

Where are all the devils who used to drive the Charismatics into libidic frenzy? Two locations, history would tell us: (1) In the war zone, for devils love war and death. (2) In Fundamental Baptist ministries where gatherings are marked by rage, screaming, running wild, and in tempting men to destroy their ministries with porn, protest music, tax rebellion, gun lust, flag waving, and a hundred other distractions. Kent Hovind may very well have a devil driving him along. I believe that tax rebellion results in possession with devils. I have a video of a deliverance session in which a tax rebel clearly has been possessed with a devil.

Here is a news source on the event

JUNE 2004

I did some more research on Kent Hovind. I have to report now that Kent Hovind is a fraud. His claims as to his education are highly irregular. He has a mail order doctorate from a university that lists no faculty and is accredited by the American Accrediting Association of Theological Institutions, an accreditation mill that provides accreditation for a $100 charge.

He is said to be in deep trouble, way beyond what was reported above, as to his ethics, lies about his alleged poverty, and rebellion against paying tax. This man, like all other tax rebels, wants the rest of us to pay for the benefits of living in the USA while he pays nothing. All this while it is reported that he is raking in one million dollars a year for his alleged nonprofit ministry. The millions were deposited into his personal banking accounts.

Hovind filed bankruptcy knowing he was lying and was not bankrupt at all, according to our sources.

The debtor having failed to file his federal income tax returns for at least the years 1989 through 1995, having resisted collection efforts by the IRS, and having provided false information in his schedules and statement of affairs in connection with this case, I find that the debtor filed this petition in bad faith and as such the petition is subject to dismissal for cause under the provisions of 11 U.S.C. 1307(c).

I am sorry that the enemy is the source for this information, but I am tempted to believe it after hearing his comments about paying tax on his videos.

The "university" where Kent Hovind received his alleged doctorate:
6915 Palmer Park Boulevard Colorado Springs, Colorado 80915 (719) 597-7512
"Claiming to be a ministry of Hilltop Baptist Church, the college charges between $15 and $32 per credit and offers degrees through the doctoral level. Their catalog contains no information on the school's faculty or their credentials. Patriot claims accreditation by the American Accrediting Association of Theological Institutions (see Chapter 3), an accrediting mill associated with Christian Bible College in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Advertises or has advertised in Pulpit Helps."

I have also come to realize that Hovind, in all his videos, does not state the evolutionist position on anything so that he obligates himself to give a serious answer. Every citation to the evolutionist theories is given as a springboard for mockery. Duane Gish, who has real earned degrees from real universities, does the opposite. He cites noted scientists who promote evolution, and then Gish shows the biblical and scientific ways in which the evolutionist's notions fall down. I have seen Gish do this in debate, and it was not easily answered by the PhD defending evolution.

My suggestion: Throw your Hovind videos away. If you try to salvage them to use in defense of creationism, your unsaved friends will eventually learn that Hovind is a tax rebel, and the Gospel, and YOU, will be a joke to your friends. You could actually be helping them turn against the Gospel.

"Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Boone, NC has stopped using Hovind's seminar and has removed his stuff from its library because of his lack of character. This is a church that has had creationist conferences with Dr. Duane Gish and the like before and has been using Hovind's teaching materials. Yet even they don't want him anymore."

Regarding Kent Hovind's alleged doctoral dissertation-- Quote from the web site:

Two discrepancies were obvious upon inspection.

(1) The dissertation is NOT 250 pages in length. [ See Hovind's claims below ] Patriot University sent Mr. Evans a dissertation that is 101 pages in length, including the dedication. The pages of Hovind's thesis are NOT numbered, so my references to page numbers start with the "Dedication" page being number one. There is no table of contents, but on pages five and six Hovind describes a thesis that has 16 chapters. The thesis that Mr. Evans received from Patriot University was a four-chapter thesis.

Recently, Hovind attempted to explain the discrepancy in an email exchange with Evans:

My dissertation was originally about 100 pages. I continued adding material and it grew to 250 pages. Over the last 10 years I have constantly been adding material. It is now many hundreds of pages and will be put into book form as time permits. (1-16-00, Skip Evans email)

This is a ridiculous statement. A dissertation does not continue to grow and (gasp) evolve beyond the completion of the degree. The thesis topic may be pursued, but the additional material is not added to the bound, completed, microfilmed, archived thesis!

(2) The dissertation DOES NOT deal with the subject of "The Effects of Teaching Evolution on the Students in our Public School System". NONE of the four chapters of the Patriot University document addresses this subject, and - IT IS NOT EVEN ONE OF THE SUBJECTS MENTIONED IN THE TWELVE "MISSING" CHAPTERS!!! I agree that this would be a legitimate subject for an advanced degree in education, and that there might be methods to pursue it. However, there is no empirical evidence that Hovind did anything of the kind.

Hovind appears sensitive to criticism of Patriot University and implies that despite its small size and the fact that it is a correspondence school his education is legitimate and so is his degree. What I will show in the rest of this review is that the quality of this thesis, which was apparently accepted by Patriot University, falls WAY below what would be accepted at ANY regular university OR legitimate distance-learning facility. Neither the content nor the writing quality is Ph.D.-calibre by any stretch of the imagination.

There is only one committee member, a Dr. Wayne Knight. Normally, a thesis must pass muster with 3-5 committee members, all of whom make suggestions and ultimately "sign off" on the thesis. Even the undergraduate honors theses at my institution require the signatures of two faculty members.

Misspellings are rampant. A careful, knowledgeable editor/adviser would never allow a student to get away with misspelling "Caanan", "Voltair", "Nyles Eldridge", Madelyn Murray "O'Hare" (just like the airport), "Shintu" (the Japanese religion), "peersuaded", "centrifical" (force!!!), "aught" (to!), "disippated", "immerged" (from the slime), or "epic" (as in geological!). "It's" is used as a possessive pronoun. There are several non sentences. This is especially interesting since the course catalog of PU offers courses like "Refresher English" and "Mechanics of Composition".

There are no references or footnotes. A few partial citations are included in the body of the thesis, but they are not in standard form, and are incomplete. In at least two places (pp 65-66) the citation simply notes that there is a book title to be added. This has no place in a final version.

The single illustration, the electromagnetic spectrum, is cut out of a science textbook and taped on; it does not fit the page. Additionally, there are substantial formatting errors typical of a draft, but not a final, version. The final version is printed on a dot-matrix printer, an absolute no-no, even in 1991.

The Ph.D. is in "Christian Education", not "Education" - that's what the title page says. The coursework for the two degrees is substantially different, but as late as 1-10-00, Hovind still seems loath to advertising the "Christian" aspect of his degree. Curious that a Christian would leave that part out!

At this point Hovind would surely cry "sour grapes", though these conventions of format and style are typical, minimal and reasonable for a "real" Ph.D. It becomes more evident that this thesis fails as a Ph.D. dissertation when one examines the content.

As stated earlier in this review, a thesis is supposed to be a body of ORIGINAL research. A thesis contains original and new data or theories that ADD to the body of existing knowledge. This fundamental requirement, more than the length of a thesis, differentiates a thesis from a high school theme or term paper. PU says very little about the doctoral dissertation except "Minimum of 150 typewritten pages; a popular writing style is permitted for the dissertation" (1998 PU Catalog, 19). From the content of this particular thesis one can conclude that either Patriot University has substantially lower standards for content and style (than conventional degree-granting institutions) for its Ph.D., or that Hovind's thesis adviser never read the dissertation. A chapter-by-chapter description follows:

To read more, go to the web site linked above. The author is not sympathetic to creationism, but Kent Hovind has made a real fool of the Word of God by giving our enemies ammunition to shoot at us all.

The Question: Is Kent Hovind a scientific person who is qualified to deal with evolution and creation on the level of such people as Duane Gish, Ken Ham, and John Morris?

"Every once in a while someone will ask me the question, "Where did you get your degree?" While I am not the least bit ashamed of my education, I have learned by experience that they could be asking the question because they have come to the point where they cannot attack the message I bring against evolution so they wish to attack me personally instead. This is called an ad hominem argument. They mistakenly think that by belittling the man they have answered his points and won the debate. When the opponent in a debate begins using ad hominem attacks, it is an obvious signal that they are losing the debate on facts and must resort to other means to try to save face or divert attention. It is also interesting to watch how the evolutionists will spend much time and effort scrutinizing a subject like my degree or credentials yet won't spend 2 seconds scrutinizing how ridiculous the evolution theory is! They truly strain at a gnat and swallow a camel. Matthew 23:24

Back to the degree question. I took advanced math and science classes at East Peoria High School graduating in 1971. I earned my first 60 (+ or -) credit hours majoring in math and science at Illinois Central College in East Peoria, Illinois. I then transferred to Midwestern Baptist College in Pontiac, Michigan where I double majored in education and the Bible and graduated in 1974. (I took 18-20 hours each semester plus summer school to graduate in 3 years.) While I taught math and science in Christian schools for the next 15 years I took courses at several Bible colleges in my spare time. I finished my Masters (1988) and Doctorate (1991) degrees in education from Patriot University. At the time it was small Christian university in Colorado Springs that offered an extension program for people involved in full time ministries. I was taking courses from Patriot University (established 1980) while it was a ministry of Hilltop Baptist Church and offered a Ph.D. in education. I spent many years working on my degree and learned a lot - as anyone who has watched my debates with evolutionists or seminar series will testify.

Long after I graduated, Patriot became independent of the church, moved their offices into a house and dropped the Ph.D. in their education program. Some ill informed scoffers have even circulated a picture of the house where they are now located. I don't understand their logic but evidently they think this somehow discredits me. Patriot allowed students to give offerings to the school instead of a regular tuition payment. Some scoffers have laughed at this idea yet they don't seem to realize how many thousands have gone through secular schools without using any of their own money via grants, scholarships or their parent's savings. Some have ridiculed the size of the school. If Harvard offers a Ph.D. degree program with only 3 or 4 students (this happens at many schools- sometimes with only 1 student), does the small number automatically mean they are not "earning their degree" or that they are attending a "diploma mill" school? Of course not! Nearly all schools offer classes by correspondence. My 250-page dissertation dealt with the subject of the effects of teaching evolution on the students in our public school system.

My 20-year study of the creation evolutionism subject led me to start Creation Science Evangelism in 1991. I now speak over 700 times each year on the subject, have had 40+ debates and have been a guest on over 3500 radio and television talk shows. My itinerary is available from my office or on my web site, and any evolutionist interested in a public debate any place they chose is welcome to contact me to arrange a time while I am in their area. Since they think I don't have a degree, they can call me Kent, Mr. Hovind or even "hey you," if it will make them feel better. Since they don't think I am "properly educated" it should be easy for them to demonstrate how wrong I am and how much evidence there is for evolution. I should be a pushover, but I am willing to debate them anyway and run the risk of publicly embarrassing myself. I hope this helps answer your question.

If you are looking for someone with advanced degrees in science, I do not have them and have never claimed that I did. If you would like the names of scientists who support the young earth creationist position you may want to contact the Institute for Creation Research at 619-448-0900 or They can supply you with a list. I only claim to have many years experience in studying the subject and the common sense to know that the universe is too complex to have happened without an incredibly smart designer (whom I happen to know personally as my savior).

By the way, Darwin's only degree was in theology yet he is often called a great scientist in textbooks today. Who and what determines who gets to be called a "scientist" and why don't these scoffers put the same effort into correcting textbooks that call "Reverend" Darwin a scientist?

See the source of this, with the 250 page claim edited out:
This is taken from the Wayback Maching Archive because it seems that Hoving changed the page to hide this defense.

Wyatt was a fraud and said Ellen G. White's writings were his inspiration and caused his discoveries. Ellen G White, along with Ron Wyatt, was a Seventh Day Adventist. Why would a Fundamental Baptist KJB only apologist turn to the SDAs for his research on Bible based archaeology? You need to read the page posted by Answers In Genesis in which they deal with Kent Hovind's soft headed approach to the Geocentric Theory, which is hogwash science, and about Kent Hovind on his absolute faith in Ron Wyatt. For your information, the Geocentric Earth belief says that the sun, and the whole universe, revolve around the earth. And, the farmer hauled another load away.

In his video lectures, Hovind holds up rubber models of dinosaurs, and one of them has blond hair. He then makes demeaning jokes about dumb blondes. This is beyond the modern politically correct issue. It is degrading to women who have blond hair and is a crass example of his cheap heritage and mail order degree. Men of real learning-- men of God-- do not mock at women, blonde or otherwise.

Read the whole story on Wikipedia.
If you are so utterly stupid as to intentionally evade paying your income taxes, this could easily be YOUR story. This is a very dumb way to use your life. Christ paid his taxes, and you cannot expect God to protect you from prosecution if you do not pay yours.

To err is one thing. It is almost impossible to not make mistakes doing your taxes if your life and work are the least bit complicated. The tax forms and code are a nightmare. If you call the IRS with the same question ten times, it is highly likely you will get five or six different answers. But, the IRS knows that, and they are always willing to make arrangements for you to correct errors. In fact, the only person I know of who was investigated by the IRS had around $150 paid back to him.

Personally, I have H&R Block do mine. Block was a Jew, and they know how to deal with complicated money issues. Why take chances on my limited ability to understand the tax code?
