Mark 5:1 And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes. Mark 5:2 And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, Mark 5:3 Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains: Mark 5:4 Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him. Mark 5:5 And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones. Mark 5:6 But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him, Mark 5:7 And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not. Mark 5:8 For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit. Mark 5:9 And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many. Mark 5:10 And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country. Mark 5:11 Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding. Mark 5:12 And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them. Mark 5:13 And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea. Mark 5:14 And they that fed the swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done. Mark 5:15 And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid. Mark 5:16 And they that saw it told them how it befell to him that was possessed with the devil, and also concerning the swine. Mark 5:17 And they began to pray him to depart out of their coasts. Mark 5:18 And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him. Mark 5:19 Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee. Mark 5:20 And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel. Mark 5:21 And when Jesus was passed over again by ship unto the other side, much people gathered unto him: and he was nigh unto the sea. Mark 5:22 And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet, Mark 5:23 And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live. Mark 5:24 And Jesus went with him; and much people followed him, and thronged him. Mark 5:25 And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years, Mark 5:26 And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse, Mark 5:27 When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment. Mark 5:28 For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. Mark 5:29 And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague. Mark 5:30 And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes? Mark 5:31 And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? Mark 5:32 And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing. Mark 5:33 But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth. Mark 5:34 And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague. Mark 5:35 While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue's house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further? Mark 5:36 As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe. Mark 5:37 And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James. Mark 5:38 And he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly. Mark 5:39 And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth. Mark 5:40 And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying. Mark 5:41 And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise. Mark 5:42 And straightway the damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years. And they were astonished with a great astonishment. Mark 5:43 And he charged them straitly that no man should know it; and commanded that something should be given her to eat. CHAPTER FIVE:

1. Devils dispatched- Vs. 1-20
A. Vs. 2- Devils are unclean This is the NT title for them. Sure sign of devils at work- Dirt, trash, unbathed, smell of booze and tobacco. ILL Arussi- After saved, chu. law to use soap. RC social hall- Ireland, N. France- St Francis. ILL Cities of the world. Attract crime, sexual filth, and garbage. Nomads of Kenya in Kitale. ILL Leprosy in the Bible- Lev. 14:4-7; Matt. 8:1-4; Leprosy associated with uncleanness. Tell of Dr. Bill's observation.
POINT- Satan loves dirt-- both spiritual, moral, and physical. When you see a person who seems to love to be dirty, you may suspect devils. SF hippies, LSD, Veterinarian in Mich. where I tuned.
B. Vs. 3- Devils are attracted to tombs and places of death. Lk. 8:27- He was never in a house. Skid row. Gurus in India. Cave men? Witchcraft is classic here. They have skulls, cadavers, coffins, macabre manners, knives, murder symbols, and do sacrifices in cemeteries. It is their "sanctuary." (Mk. 9:17-27) Freemasonry is also full of death, skull and bones, and coffins. We ought to discuss the decorating of tombs, graves, and memorials. Question: Why? Honor what? Is the saint with Jesus? C. Vs. 3-4- Devils are untamable by man. Matt. 8:28; Mark 9:18, 20, 26 This man was some mother's bouncing baby boy. So was Hitler. To be sure that a man is demonized, never tame him as a boy. Only God can tame such people. Saul- 1 Samuel 16:14 But the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD troubled him. 15 And Saul's servants said unto him, Behold now, an evil spirit from God troubleth thee. 16 Let our lord now command thy servants, which are before thee, to seek out a man, who is a cunning player on an harp: and it shall come to pass, when the evil spirit from God (*) is upon thee, that he shall play with his hand, and thou shalt be well. 17 And Saul said unto his servants, Provide me now a man that can play well, and bring him to me. 18 Then answered one of the servants, and said, Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, that is cunning in playing, and a mighty valiant man, and a man of war, and prudent in matters, and a comely person, and the LORD is with him. (*) God is sovereign over the acts of devils. Discuss: Devils finite,

Counterfeits of God's power- (Note untamable factor) Acts 19:13-16- Sons of Sceva. Similar story of preacher in South. Tried to close down a witches colony out of God's will. Later seen running in fields in terror and naked. Show Coffia video of RC priest and "deliverance." The priest had no spiritual power over the devil in the girl. Therefore; he put them all in peril, and The girl was not delivered. Same with Psychotherapy. The devil remains. Sometimes the psychiatrist drugs the person so much that the devil has less input. MPD- Multiple Personality Disorder- ALWAYS demonic. Saints have a single mind in Christ. Philippians 1:27 So do the wicked when they are devil possessed- Revelation 17:13 Worst terror of Christian counseling- Hypnosis- Devils often enter to advance the process of mental disorder. Discussion? When counterfeits of God's power are used, the results always hurt someone- either the victim or the "counselor."

Why do Christian, Fundamental, Bible Believing, King James only men let their wives wear less than they do in public. Describe church foyer: "Here comes a fine couple to church...." Man in suit- Only hands and face show. Wife- Arms bear, neck line open and plunging, and legs show-- especially when seated, Chinese slit, Swiss bust line. Why? They want men to lust for them. Who is traditionally lusted after the most? Ans: Ladies. Who inspires this zeal to show skin??? The Holy Spirit or Satan?? Mark 5:15- Implies nakedness goes with insanity. Thus, the gods of Babylon are often naked. Gen. 3:21 Who all was clothed? Who could see them? Discuss the heathen, nakedness, and devils. ILL. Ex. 32:1-6 They sat down to party and rose up to play-- naked- vs. 17-26! Who lead them to undress? A preacher!! NOTE: They started out worshipping God and ended up naked and singing to Satan. Zeph. 1:4-5- Baal and the Lord. Apply to modern Charismatic movement. RC church. ILL. Ex. 20:23-26- Priest at altar. Does God want men running around with their shirts off and in shorts? ILL. Lev. 18:7; Ezekiel 22:1-2 & 8-12- Note what is included with discovering their father's nakedness. Now, what about gang showers? Evil. Fathers ought never to share moments of nakedness with sons. Why? If for no other reason, God doesn't want it. POINT: Modesty is not a matter of you feeling right. Modesty is a spiritual response to Jehovah and spouse. Clothing one's self is a spiritual matter. What do "innocent" people think? Answer: What does a little girl want to do? Get all dressed up. Play house- Clothed all over!! Getting undressed has to be trained into a little girl. Like a two piece bathing suit for a 3 year old! Compare the wife in Song of Solomon with the Prov. 31 lady. Song of Solomon 5:4-6- For the bed chamber only-- Proverbs 31:10-11- When she is outside the bed chamber. ILL. Notion in Fundamental circles- Wife dresses for and charms her husband all of the time, especially in public. Doc. of Devils- Bible standard-- A godly wife dresses in public to guard what is only her husband's. To God, she is naked- Heb. 4:13 RESULT: Prov. 5:18-19- This is not permission for husbands and wives to cuddle, hold hands, and neck in public. This is a clear hint that these things are for the husband and wife to enjoy without others distracting them. Saints have no business cuddling in the church's gatherings. This is unspiritual and exhibitionist. I always wonder if this isn't the only time it happens-- meant to cover up a hateful home life....
Conclusion: Nakedness is a clear sign that devils are in charge. On TV, on the street, or in the church gathering. ILL. Story of Paul Boger and the women wearing hot pants to the church picnic. Why did they not obey their pastor? Rebellion- I Samuel 15:22-23 Who clothed women and men? Ans: God. Who is the object of rebellion when people undress? Is the last days church really naked? Rev. 3:16-17 ILL. Story of old preacher who put his coat on the lady to sing a special song. Tore up the church. Good- back door revival. G. Self-mutilation- Mark 5:5 And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones. 1 Kings 18:23 Let them therefore give us two bullocks; and let them choose one bullock for themselves, and cut it in pieces, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under: and I will dress the other bullock, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under: Cf I Kings 18:26-28- Note the worship setting. 2 Kings 23:7-11- This was burning children in a blazing idol of Molluck. He too committed suicide. 1 Samuel 31:4 Conclusion: It is a devilish thing to purposely inflict pain and mutilate the body for any reason except: 1. Medical and therapy (including circumcision) 2. 1. vs. 22- Note the ruler of the synagogue. We cannot give up on organized churchianity. There are Nicodemuses and Jairuses. 2. vs. 23-24- The ministry we have is to be in the homes of the lost. Discuss trying to reach people at church real estate. What dan we do to get into their homes? 3. vs. 25-34- Distraction of faith. Note the place of women. Pharisees no doubt put women down with children. Cf- John 8:3-4- The man was allowed to go free. Same with today's gurus and liberals. Women's lib is window dressing. Who runs the club? vs. 26- Rip off doctors are nothing new. vs. 27-30- Where was the power? In the clothes or in Christ? Show ILL. Robert Tilton packet vs. 30- Jesus has "all power"- Mt. 28:18-19 But He is in total control of His power. Discuss: How should this affect our prayer? vs. 31-34- Principle of being "whole" or being "healed" Luke 17:12 And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off: 13 And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us. 14 And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed. 15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, 16 And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan. 17 And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine? 18 There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger. 19 And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole. Healed- Physical Whole- Body, soul, and spirit. Cf- John 5:14; John 8:10-11 3. Daughter revived- Vs. 35-43 A. [Today- NO faith heealing in homes or on the street] 41 And he took the damsel by the hand, [Today- Push head, touch the spot, fling coat] and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise. 42 And straightway the damsel arose, and walked; [Today- You'll be better tomorrow, or they stagger around the front whilee the crowd cheers. Why don't saints figure out this is the work of devils?] for she was of the age of twelve years. And they were astonished with a great astonishment. 43 And he charged them straitly that no man should know it; [Today- They publish books of doctor's reports. Healed publish testimonies and go on TBN. Benny Hinn has a Dr. on hand at many services to do a medical examination and varify healing-- Just like Jesus??? Discussion: What are we going to do when a smingly born again saint tells us they were healed, had a vision, or came back from the dead, saw Jesus or an angel standing at the foot of their bed? 1. Man in Bisbee who had a vision of being healed, and he claims he was. 2. Orrie Cochran got his legs massaged by an angel. 3. Bob H____ story of an angel hitch hiking. 4. Michael the Archangel moving head around during a deliverance session. 5. Claims by the preacher, "God showed me this..." Especially about someone else's life and calling. B. Was this a resurrection? Answer- The crowd thought so. Jesus said it was not. Who are you going to believe? Discuss: Hyping the supernatural. Example: God stopped the Old Testament era of Job's revelation by the stars. Job 9:9 Which maketh Arcturus, Orion, and Pleiades, and the chambers of the south. 10 Which doeth great things past finding out; yea, and wonders without number. CF- Psalms 19:1; Psalms 97:6. Wise men interpreting the star announcing christ's birth. Why did God stop giving revelation by the stars? 1. Satan paganized it with modern astrology. 2. The canon of Scripture is complete. So, we must not hype the supernatural outside of what the Word allows. ILL. The rainbow during the 70s and 80s. New Age took it as a Satanic symbol. Saints avoided it for that time. Example in a translation of hyping supernatural: KJV-- Romans 9:5, Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen. Back-- Romans 9:5, They have the ancestors, and from them according to His body came Christ, who is God over everything, blessed forever. Amen. There is NO call to strengthen doctrines for God. So, let us beware of going beyond God's permission.
