The first tailor mentioned in the Bible is Adam. Genesis
3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant
to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit
thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
I have a fig tree in the front yard, and, for the life of me I cannot figure out why Adam chose fig leaves. Any native in Africa will tell you bark clothe is far more durable than fig leaves. Perhaps this is some indication of how sin lowers the IQ. You see, Adam and Eve had just had a meal of fruit from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, and their eyes were opened. |
Up until that point, they did not know they were naked. That is, their nakedness had no moral or social context to them. Being naked was normal because they were innocent of sin and guilt. The curious thing about being naked in the Garden of Eden was that there was no one around to see them naked, but, after they sinned, they still felt self-conscious. Perhaps you could identify with Adam if you recall some recurring dream you have in which you are standing in a crowded room stark naked, and no one seems to notice. Adam and Eve knew they were naked, but no one cared until God came for his evening visit with the first family.

God had become a threat to Adam and Eve. That is what happens when we sin. Our conscience condemns us, and we know we have broken God's law. This is why Atheists try to claim that conscience is just superstition and should be ignored. Conscience drives us to repentance, or conscience drives us to defend sin and go to Hell. And, conscience is what drives Libertarians to defy God and mock his law.
So, God told Adam that fig leaf aprons were not in style in his kingdom, and God killed an animal and made clothes for Adam and Eve. Ever since that day man has worn clothes because he has the sense that he is naked without them. Even heathen African tribes who appear to be stark naked, with very rare exceptions, wear some ornament or a bit of cloth or leather to feel clothed. An African woman who has on nothing but a string of beads would not be caught in public without that bit of nothing. The same is true with the Indians in the Amazon jungle.
And, why do all cultures cover the same part of the human anatomy, the genitals? What is it that caused humans to feel they need a covering there? Reproduction is essential for propagating the race, and it has no shame attached to it. God encourages humans in I Corinthians to enjoy the process of reproduction, so why hide it? This issue was not on Adam and Eve's mind until they sinned. What is going on here? Why not wear a hat to cover one's nakedness? I have never heard a rational discussion of this phenomenon, but everyone on earth follows the same protocol.
But, we are missing something. There are several other reasons why clothing is called for which are obvious but interesting.
Clothes go along with the curse. Here is where God put a curse on the world to slow down Adam and keep him from anarchy against God.

3:17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy
wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt
not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of
it all the days of thy life;
18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth
to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;
19 In the sweat of thy
face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast
thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
We know today that it is a good idea, with certain kinds of work, to have a set of clothes to protect our body while working. The thorns must be pulled out of the garden, and we cover up well to avoid being hurt. Some work is filthy and involves germs and disease, so we wear protective work garments. Once again, we are reminded we are sinners as we dress to go to work in protective clothes.
Clothes define who we are. When I tuned pianos along the Arizona/ Mexico border I frequently saw illegals crossing the highway as I drove to a customer. One thing that gave them away was their clothing. It was different than the average American Hispanic would wear. I live now in Texas, and when we eat out at our favorite Mexican restaurant illegals will occasionally come in to eat, and their clothes are one of the indications of what they are.
On the other hand, if a Hispanic man enters a restaurant, and he is wearing a first quality western shirt, a bolo tie with plenty of turquoise and the cord braided like a bull whip, and he has a first quality Stetson, or a fine woven straw hat, and his boots are slightly scratched but obviously top of the line, you are looking at the padron of a ranch nearby. His son, padronito, will have on a miniature version of his Daddy's outfit. This man is high on the local social list and very influential in local politics.
A Jew named Levi went to the Yukon during the Klondike gold rush looking for gold. But, he wanted to let someone else find the gold and buy something from him with the gold. He looked at the miners, and he saw that they were destroying their trousers by loading the pockets with rock samples as they worked. Levi got some sail cloth from the ship suppliers, and he designed trousers with double stitching, and he added rivets around the pockets to prevent them from coming apart. His product brought Levi plenty of gold, and still today Levis are fantastic work pants, and they are a cultural and social statement or masculinity. Question: Why do ladies Levis have a fly? The Feminist movement has a real issue there, but I don't hear them talking about it.
Clothes define us to ourselves. When a woman is well dressed, but also, when her clothes are modest, that woman is applying for membership in the category, "A decent woman." People will judge you, and see what you think of yourself, by whether or not you are modest. Woman who go to the beach and have on a G-string are exhibitionists, and we know they are trolling for male hustlers with money in their pockets. Thus, they give away a free pass to men to lap up the eye candy and approach them. They usually get what they want.....PLUS, a sexually transmitted disease. Nakedness leads us into sin, and sin burns us. Clothes can make all the difference in who is friendly to us, and clothes can determine whether we end up a loser or winner in life. Frankly, some women dress themselves into Hell. When a man or woman gets dressed, they are telling themselves what kind of person they want to be. And, the world gets the message.
WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY ABOUT CLOTHES AND NAKEDNESS?
CROSS DRESSING
Deuteronomy 22:5 The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God.

There is nothing cute about men and woman dressing like the opposite sex. It is pagan and sexually explicit, AND it indicates the mind of such a person is possessed of devils. Any parent who dresses up their kid in clothes of the opposite sex is going to have a dyke or faggot for a kid by and by. There is no sin that us justified by the statement, "We were just pretending and having some fun." Perverted "fun" will land you in Hell.
But, the question comes up, can women wear pants for some reasons?
Answer: If a woman has to go to war to wear pants, the answer is NO.
If a wife wants to wear pants, and her husband feels she looks mannish in them, she must submit to her husband and not wear pants. A man does not want to think of his wife as mannish. A good wife will not want to offend her husband by making herself look mannish. On the other hand, men know men. A man may look at his wife wearing modest loose fitting slacks, and he gets no feeling of immodesty or cross dressing. In this case, and in spite of some churches that have pants laws, this wife is free to wear pants.
It is well known, by people who learn about other cultures, that there are a good number of world cultures where the women wear pants or similar clothes. The thing that is clear, after you study both men and women in these other cultures, is that the men wear clothes that define them as masculine, and the women wear clothes that define them as feminine. There is no confusion. So, there is no basic law, neither in the Bible nor in the world at large, that pants are of the devil. The pride of some conservative Christians, that their wife has never had pants touch her legs, is rank Pharisaical pride.
But, if you attend a church where pants are outlawed in public gatherings, you need to submit to the standard or find another church to attend. And, keep you mouth shut about it lady. There is nothing more ridiculous than a woman leading a war to wear pants in a local church. Now, if the pastor has spies who snoop around looking for violators, and if they reported to him that you wear pants to work in your garden..... And, if that pastor approaches the wife or husband about this, GET OUT OF DODGE AT ONCE. You need to find another church. The church where you are has a sex pervert for a pastor. Any church that has a pastor who wants to dress and undress women members is a Hell hole. A woman, according to the Bible, is to submit to her OWN husband, not just any old male leader who is obsessed with other men's wives.
God wants wives to give their husbands full authority over their body and what they do with it, and visa versa.
1 Corinthians 7:4 The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife.
WHO HAS THE AUTHORITY TO TELL A WOMAN HOW TO DRESS?
Consider the question: Does the pastor of the local church have the authority to tell women how to dress?
Ephesians 5:22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.
23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.Notice the key word, "own." This limits who can have a wife in submission. That is, ONLY her husband. The pastor of the local church, when he claims that the women of the church must be in submission to him, is worse than a tyrant. That pastor is a heretic, and he is getting women primed to go to bed with him. I have seen this over and over, and I will NOT take any other interpretation of such behavior by a pastor. ALL pastors who demand women members be in submission to him is building a harem.
One pastor in the Detroit area demanded that women in his church bring the patterns of dresses they intended to sew for themsleves, and this arrogant son of a buck toothed jerkawallah would give a verdict on the pattern, whether or not it was modest enough. What crass idiocy, and I fail to find socially decent words to express myself on this one. The only commentary on your clothing choices, ladies, is your husband. Dr. E V Hill, a Black pastor in Los Angeles insisted that his daughter present herself every morning before leaving for school. He would ask her, "Is this my daughter?" A God fearing young lady needs her Daddy, and ONLY her Daddy, to give the final verdict on her clothes. Mommies tend to allow too much liberty with their daughters. That is why God gave young woman Daddies.
What is pathetic though, is to see a wife rebel against her husband's wishes as to dress. A godly man wants his wife to bring it all home to him, not share it around in the church foyer or in the market place. We have all seen these Hollywood starlets being escorted into some grand event by their husband or boy friend. The woman goes first, which is good form, but she is nearly naked, and she is fighting to keep her breasts from falling out on the floor. The man has a dumb struck look on his face, and we realize that this is the kind of pimp who puts his wife out for display, and the jerk gets a rush out of seeing men goggle at his wife.
A godly man will be offended if his wife draws attention to her breasts by too much cleavage, or by a low cut dress. That man, if he really is godly, will also be very upset if his wife wiggles her butt around as she walks. This kind of woman is not a born again Christian. She is a whore trolling for a spare to her husband. A godly pastor will run this couple off at once, no discussion, and no mercy.
Afterthought: Why were high heels invented long ago for women?
Answer: To force women to swing their rear end back and forth. High heels force the knees forward, throwing the woman off balance, so she has to has to hang her bootie out back to keep from falling over forward. Then, that puts he off balance in the opposide direction, so she has to push her breasts out to keep total balance. The thing historicaly was done to CAUSE this to happen. High heels are for whores. Queer men adopt this walk because it makes them look like ladies walking.
This is why cowboys walk that way. The tipping up of the heel forces the fanny wag, and cowboys, if they want to avoid this and look manly, have to bend their knees and do the crab walk to prevent looking like a woman. There is a good reason cowboy boots have high heels. It is to prevent him accidentally slipping his foot through the stirrup and getting dragged when a horse runs away with him.
Never accuse me of not dealing with touchy issues please.

How much do you dress to the world's standards? Do you let your kids decide what to wear by copying the world?
Titus 2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;The world at large, at work, at school, and downtown, dress to please one another. That is what drives style changes. The styles in women's clothes are set in France by a bunch of queer clothing designers. This trickles on down to Wall Mart, and your kids want "the latest." The verse above says that we are to "deny" worldly lusts. We are to be different than the world, not like them.
1 Timothy 2:9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;
10 But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.1 Peter 5:5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
The ornamentation of women which Paul lists in verse 9 was typical of the Greek and Roman world of his day. Women of those days were bawdy and forward to men in public. That is why the quality of "shamefacedness" is suggested by Paul. The Greek meaning implies that women should be bashful toward men. A woman who is inviting and suggestive, whether in clothes, speech, or body language, is behaving like a whore. Hell has come up into your church, pastor, when there is flirting and familiarity going on in your church foyer. And, I have observed some of you pastors who are the worst ones in this fault.
Verse 10- A godly woman will attract the right kind of friends by doing works that do two things: 1) Her works show her zeal to please God and her husband, and 2) Her works make other people's lives less burdensome or troubling. This, for an unmarried woman, will attract "the right kind of guy." Your choice, ladies..... attract real godly men, or attract hustlers and whore chasers. Show more skin, and reap more sorrow.
Leviticus 19:28 Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.
What is meant here is that a godly woman does not ornament herself in the fetching trinkets of her day. They are used to attract men and cause lust in them. Tattoos are an extreme example of this. A woman with a tattoo is saying, "Come and get it, I am a slut." Having said that, I hasten to add that if the tattoos were added before the woman confessed faith in Christ, she should be given a special leniency since they are very hard to remove. But, such a woman needs to cover the tattoos the best she can. Tattoos may be trendy with the ungodly, but they are still loaded with an ugly stigma. A Christian woman or girl will NOT add tattoos. This verse in Moses' law is talking precisely about tattoos as done in ancient days and in parts of Arabia and India to this day.
1 Peter 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
There is a difference between peculiar weird and peculiar modest. I did a little research on YouTube, and I found that unsaved women are coming back to the modest look. Many sites exist on the topic, and others are selling modest clothes that look very fashionable. I will tell you why this makes you ladies mad and your daughters whine...... You WANT to be lusted after by hustlers and whoremongers. You get the rush out of knowing men are checking out your cleavage, right? Come on, admit it. You love the attention you get. Well, honey, one morning when you wake up in a cheap motel, you will remember your hate for this article and warning. Would you trash your marriage and happy family for the "right" to make yourself half naked in public?
Say anything you want to about Mennonite and Amish women and girls, they give themselves away in the supermarket by their clothes. The way they talk and respond to strangers also gives the final verdict. I have asked them if they are Amish or Mennonites a number of times, and the only times I have been wrong was when they were Mormons. Mormonism is a grievous heresy, but you cannot fault them on the Mormon look of their women. Has anyone ever asked you if you are Amish, or have you been asked if you home school your kids? Home schoolers almost always look modest and behave decently in public.
Proverbs 31:30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.
Do you want to be seen by your friends as a man or woman that fears God, or do you want them to see that you live as close to the edge of the dark world as possible while putting on airs of spirituality?
Afterthought: Women are clearly sex objects in modern society. You can sell shock absorbers, cough medicine, and Vodka with a half naked woman on the ad. Knowing that women are the main sex object today, that is, the object of lust in modern society..... Sir, why does you wife cover less of her body than you do when you go shopping, to church, or out and about? Men have much less sex related physical hardware to cover than women, but men are almost always wearing more clothes than their wives. When you, sir, allow this to be the case with the ladies in your home, including your five year old daughter, you are a fool who pimps his women for the lust of filthy minded men.
Consider Dolly Parton, star of The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, who came up in a Southern Baptist church, walking the aisle, singing in the choir, and who owns Dolly Land, a theme park in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, where Regular Southern Gospel Music concerts are held. "I'm a sinner, I'm a saint....." If that is true, this is a saint who thinks being a whore is cute and cuddly. This attitude is all too common in many Charismatic and Baptist churches in America, and it is spreading to the Third World via the Internet.

But, did you have a wardrobe change. It is interesting that God says your body needs to be a daily sacrifice. So, do you wear a body covering made in Heaven or in Hollywood?

Sir, whose workmanship are your wife and daughters? God's or Hollywood's? Do your ladies look forward to the latest fashion fads from the faggot clothing designers from Paris? If you know something is wrong here, it is YOUR FAULT. You have not asserted your authority over your home. I suspect you also have a son who is a walking comic book and covered with tattoos. Daddy, you are AWOL from your responsibility to God.

Sir, this may be a good place to talk about how Daddy dresses. You go shopping with your wife, and she is dressed modestly and looks very becoming. You follow her around the store with your MAGA T-shirt which cannot be tucked in over you big belly. So, your navel leads the way down the aisle. And, you have on a worn out ball cap, with the lettering all worn off, and you have it on backwards. When you stop to eat on the way home, you do not take you hat off as you enter the restaurant. Sir, you are a slob, and you are telling your kids to dress like they just came in from a baboon convention.
At the right you see possibly America's biggest loser as to manliness. Mark Zuckerberg seems to believe that the world has to respect him for his money alone. Well, the businessmen he moves among are not impressed. He looks like a loser from eighth grade. No amount of wealth will force the world to respect such a jerk.
ANOTHER COMMENTARY ON MR. Z AND DRESSING SLOBBISH
Why do I go after Mr. Z so harshly? I do not think he is nearly as alert as some other people do. He has the look of immaturity, and that is not his fault. He is one of those men who will always like like he just enrolled in eighth grade. So, he can solve that problem. But, he will have to dress up to the image he would rather have. Done well, Mr. Z could make his look actually set styles for other men. He is a loser to me because he is not smart enough to make himself LOOK as successful as he is.
Young man, you who are not married yet. Godly young ladies are not turned on by a slob like you. Your pants are trying to drop, and you have to keep hiking them up. Your Levis have holes in them, and your shoes need to go into the dumpster..... yesterday. Woman are NOT attracted to men who dress like losers except downtown in the druggie district. And, either grow that bit of whisker stubble of a beard into a well done beard, or shave the stuff off. You look like the village drunk.
Is this only a discussion about looking nice for the folks at church? Well, this guy is preaching the same message I am.
If you dress and look like your clothes came out of the dumpster behind the Goodwill Store, there is a real good chance that you will behave like a homeless dim bulb on crack. If you dress like Jesus would if he came back to earth and showed up in your home, there is a lot better chance you will live up to that standard.
FIXING UP WHAT GOD ALREADY MADE PERFECT
Matthew 6:28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:
29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?This is not an apologetic for taking your clothes off. What this is talking about is that God made you the way you are, and he likes you to stay that way. When you add to who you are, whether by removing clothes, painting up your face, adding tattoos, or plugging jewelry into your face, God is NOT impressed with your remake of yourself.
When you redesign YOU, you are slapping God in the face and telling him you are nor satisfied with the way he made you.
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
The "new look" this year is YOU, the way God made you over after you confessed faith in Jesus Christ.
If you are offended by this discussion, let me suggest an exercise in learning for you. Go outside, or to your friend's house, where you find some big perfect roses. Pick one, and take it to you room, and use your make up kit to see if you can improve on that rose. SEND ME MAIL if you really think you made the rose look better. I need to hear how this works.

MEET THE FASHIONISTAS OF KURDISH IRAQ
When we see Iraq in the media headlines, it’s too often for negative reasons.
But there’s much more to Iraqi Kurdistan than military conflict and ISIS, which one gentleman’s club is proving to the world one outfit at a time. Based in Erbil, Kurdistan, Mr. Erbil is made up of men who share a common interest in designing and styling their own clothes, but also a wish to bring about positive change in the region. For those of us who know little about the area besides what we hear in the news, it may come as a surprise to see photos of local men in rocking tailored suits and groomed facial hair to rival what we’d usually associate with Middle Eastern terrorist fashions.
These men believe they can change their world by dressing up instead of down. Do you believe you can change your world by dressing in a manly or ladylike way?

READERS RESPOND:
One day about 5PM I arrived at archery club where we just started sharing an old gutted bowling alley building with the gymnastics club. We are separated by a solid wall, of course. Mothers were arriving to pick up their daughters, so I decided to wait for traffic to clear out a little and then pull up to get a better parking spot. The moms were probably in their late 20s, and I was shocked by how they dressed. They wore very tight designer blue jeans and high black boots which had ridiculously high heels. Their hair was also designer cut.
To get right to the point, they were dressed like whores and looked like whores. I couldn't imagine they'd set an example like that for young daughters. And this is a little town of about 3,900 people. I don't get it. There could be a considerable amount of swinging going on in this town of which I'm not aware.
I know a Uber driver in S____________ who takes college age girls to houses with gnomes in front of them on weekend nights, and then he returns to get them and take them back to their apartments. They are without a doubt supporting themselves well and paying for their education all on what they do on Friday and Saturday nights. Without having to pay a pimp, girls like that can probably make several thousand dollars over a weekend and have plenty of money in the bank when they graduate from college.
Regarding the young mothers, I guess I wouldn't be overly surprised to find that their husbands are essentially whoring them out in order to afford the trappings of a middle class life. There are lewd jokes about husbands and fathers whoring out their wives and daughters, but it never hit me that that's indeed what I'm seeing, because otherwise there's no other way to make the payments on the new houses and new vehicles I'm seeing.
Now I understand the old prophet who slumps down in the middle of the street to toss dirt up onto his head. Even in the local Bible church on Sunday mornings, I see teen girls dressed as whores strutting into the building for services. A guy would be a lot better off just staying out on the ranch shooting targets with his whole family on Sunday mornings so that they wouldn't see the situation in town. Jesus told us to watch, but then we instinctively turn our eyes away from the sickening spectacle before us.
My belief is that Jesus doesn't intend to rub our noses in the horror of what's happening for very much longer at all. I'm yelling "Uncle!" because this is stuff that would've appalled me even before I was saved, and now I want to be saved from the sights and sounds of the modern world nearly 50 years after my salvation event. All it amounts to is witnessing the ongoing death of countless souls as they sell themselves in order to obtain the lifestyles they desire. Please dear Jesus pull me up to Heaven so that I don't have to watch this anymore. My Christian joy feels like it's starting to be hammered down.
