In
regards to the Geneva Bible I do understand that it is from the Received Text
but there is something that may be of interest to you regarding the footnotes.
My personal opinion is that The Lord set this Bible aside to bring out the pure
Word of God in the Authorised Version, King James which is not tainted with man's
opinions by foot notes and study notes.
For instance: In Daniel 10:13 "But the prince of the kingdom
of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief
princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia."
The study note in the Geneva says this regarding this verse, "Even though God
could by one angel destroy all the world, yet to assure his children of his love
he sends forth double power, even Michael, that is, Christ Jesus the head of angels."
This study note is attempting to make Michael the Christ, this is heresy.
Also, Daniel 12:1 "And at that time shall Michael stand
up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there
shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to
that same time........." The study notes say, "The angel here notes two
things: first that the Church will be in great affliction and trouble at Christ's
coming, and next that God will send his angel to deliver it, whom he here calls
Michael, meaning Christ, who is proclaimed by the preaching of the Gospel." Note
the two errors, since when has the Church ever been a nation? and even greater
heresy is the attempt again to make Michael to be Jesus Christ the Lord.
As far as any Christian is concerned, any such writings and claims must be rejected
as heresy, Michael is a created being, Jesus Christ is God who created him. This
is easy for a born again Christian to spot since they have the Holy Spirit of
God to teach and discern but any who would entertain such notions are obviously
unsaved.
These quotes from the Geneva study notes where sent to me from my son who has
a Bible program with various commentaries with it, the Genvea Bible is one of
the ones included and I simply copied from the email he sent me. You can probably
check this out for yourself very easily, nonetheless, I hope this helps you.
